Lansdale Borough Police have released the details of an incident involving a suicidal male that occurred on Thursday night.
According to the release, police were dispatched to the 100 block of West Sixth Street at 7:39 p.m. for a report of a 26-year-old suicidal male armed with a knife. Upon arrival, police encountered the male, who was holding the knife up to his neck.
Police said the male repeatedly refused orders to drop the knife, at which point an officer deployed a single foam baton round from a 40mm less-lethal rifle, knocking the male down. He was then taken into custody and transported to Lansdale Hospital for treatment, police said.
No injuries were reported, police said.
Lansdale Borough Police were assisted at the scene by units from the Upper Gwynedd Township Police Department.
