Towamencin Police Provide Update to Suspicious Incident Involving Recording Device

(Editor’s note: the following is a press release from the Towamencin Township Police Department.)

The Towamencin Police Department has identified the male pictured in the previously issued public information bulletin. He has been identified as a registered private investigator from another state.

While the incident is still under investigation, it does appear at this time that he was conducting an official investigation in the area. TPD has identified no public safety risk involving the private investigator’s activity, nor any public safety risk relating to the target of that investigation.

The device that was turned over to TPD was determined to be a security camera with video recording capabilities. The SD card in that camera was examined and did contain footage. The device is not a card scanner or skimmer, and no personal identifying information was found to be stored on the device.

We thank the public for your assistance and tips, as well as your vigilance as a community to keep each other safe. We encourage you to continue to report suspicious activity to the police.

TPD often has contact with members of the private investigations community. While we are sometimes notified of reported suspicious activity, we have every intention of continuing to foster a great working relationship with that profession.
