(Editor’s note: the following is a press release from the office of State Rep. Steve Malagari.)
State Reps. Steve Malagari, D-Montgomery, and Liz Hanbidge, D-Montgomery, will partner to host a free community shredding event from 10 a.m. to noon on Oct. 5 in the parking lot of the North Montco Technical Career Center, 1265 Sumneytown Pike, Lansdale.
“I think we all know someone who has been affected by identity theft in some way,” Malagari said. “We wanted to provide this free service to our constituents, so they can keep members of their households safe by disposing of documents that contain personal information.”
Hanbidge added: “We receive many calls to our office from constituents seeking suggestions on how best to protect their personal information at a time when the security of our information seems to be increasingly at-risk. By providing residents with the opportunity to shred sensitive documents en masse, we can help our community members safely dispose of confidential documents, protect themselves from identity theft, and save priceless time and worry in securing their personal information.”
Shredded documents will be transported to a local recycling facility where 100 percent of the paper will be recycled. Please note that the event cannot assist with shredding for commercial purposes and will be unable to shred books, newspapers or magazines. As space is limited, please limit materials to five bags per household. This is a rain or shine event!
If you have any questions about the event, call Rep. Malagari’s office at 267-768-3671 or Rep. Hanbidge’s office at 610-277-3230.
