The North Penn School District (NPSD) is proud to recognize the following 29 North Penn High School (NPHS) students who were named as commended students in the 65th Annual National Merit Scholarship Program:
The National Merit Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships that began in 1955. High school students enter the National Merit Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®)—which serves as an initial screen of approximately 1.5 million entrants each year—and by meeting published program entry and participation requirements.
Out of the 1.5 million students who took the qualifying test, approximately 50,000 are being recognized as “Commended Students” for their exceptional academic promise. Selected commended students placed among the top five percent of high school seniors in the country who took the PSAT/NMSQT® in 2018.
The NPHS National Merit Scholarship Program commended and semifinalist students (announced in September, click here to read more) and their families will be honored for their accomplishments at a breakfast at NPHS on October 16.
