Crews Responding to Vehicle Accident with Entrapment, Injuries on Unionville Pike

UPDATE: Sept. 19, 10:18 a.m. - The rescue is complete and the driver has been freed from the vehicle. The driver has suffered injuries as a result of the crash, and will be airlifted to Jefferson University Hospital. ETA to helicopter landing is 10 minutes.

First responders are currently at the scene of a two vehicle accident with entrapment at the intersection of Unionville Pike and School Road in Hatfield Township.

According to the Montgomery County Department of Public Safety, the incident occurred at 9:23 a.m. Multiple sources have told North Penn Now that the accident involves an SUV and a commercial vehicle, and one driver is trapped inside of their vehicle. Sources say members of the fire service are working to extricate the driver by cutting off the roof and dashboard of the vehicle.

Though there is currently no word on injuries, multiple EMS units are on scene. The vehicles are blocking the intersection, and motorists are advised to avoid the area.

Units from Hatfield Township Police Department and the Volunteer Medical Service Corps of Lansdale are on scene, along with fire companies from Hatfield, Hilltown and Souderton.
