The recent release of a local photographer’s coffee table book has raised more than $6,000 for Perkasie-based Harley’s Haven Dog Rescue.
At a book release party earlier this month, photographer Kristen Kidd presented Harley’s Haven founder Beth Mehaffey with a ceremonial check, representing all initial proceeds of the “Woman’s Best Friend” coffee table book. The project seeks to tell of the dynamic bond between women and their canine companions, while poking fun at the masculine trope; “Man’s Best Friend.”
More than 50 people attended the event, including many of the women and their canine counterparts that were featured in the book. Some of the dogs even gave their “pawtographs” at the release, according to Kidd.
Proceeds from the continuing sales of the book will continue to be donated to Harley’s Haven, Kidd said. Those who are interested in picking up a copy or following the project can do so by clicking here.
Looking forward, Kidd is already planning a second volume for the Woman’s Best Friend Project, and she’ll be accepting applications from local rescues who would like to benefit from the sales of the second act.
