The search for a missing 16-year-old girl from Pennsburg ended in tragedy on Wednesday afternoon, after emergency responders discovered her body in Upper Hanover Township.
According to a report by Bradley Schlegel at the Town and Country, the body of Maryann Dyer was discovered near 11th Street around 3 p.m. Schlegel’s report quotes an emergency responder as describing Dyer’s death as “non-suspicious.”
The Upper Perk Police Department issued a release early Wednesday morning, stating that Dyer had last contact with her mother via cell phone at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The release states that Dyer called her mother while walking home from school, and said that she wanted to go for a walk before heading home. Dyer was last observed walking eastbound on 11th Street in Red Hill Borough, and surveillance cameras at her residence confirmed that she never made it home.
