Missing Hatboro Woman Discovered at North Wales Train Station, Airlifted in Critical Condition

A Hatboro woman who was reported missing on Wednesday evening was found unconscious at the North Wales Train Station early Thursday morning.

According to North Wales Borough Police Chief Mike Eves, police were dispatched to the 400 block of School Street at 5:48 a.m. for a report of a medical emergency. Upon arrival, police found a 67-year-old woman who was unresponsive and had sustained severe head trauma. Her vehicle was located 50 yards away, police said.

Eves told North Penn Now that the woman revealed no signs of a struggle or defensive wounds, and nothing suspicious was found at the scene. The woman was then airlifted from a field at North Wales Elementary, and taken to Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia where she was listed in critical condition.

The ensuing investigation revealed that the woman had been reported missing in Hatboro on Wednesday evening. During interviews with the woman’s family members, police learned that she had several serious ongoing medical issues, and had recently complained of confusion and headaches.

“It appears that the victim became confused, left the residence, and ended up at the train station disoriented,” said Eves, in an interview with North Penn Now. “She apparently fell at some point, striking the back of her head on a hard surface. The woman’s vehicle was located on the outbound side of the station, approximately 50 yards from the victim.”

Eves said that there was no evidence of a crime, and police believe the incident is an “unfortunate medical event.”

The initial call was covered by members of the Upper Gwynedd Township Police Department, until units from the Pennsylvania State Police Skippack Barracks arrived on scene. Members of the North Wales Borough Police Department, Hatboro Township Police Department, North Penn Volunteer Fire Company and Volunteer Medical Service Corps of Lansdale assisted at the scene and contributed to the investigation.
