Lansdale Woman Accused of Assaulting Police at Wissahickon Apartments

Rachel Pershall, 40, of the 700 block of East Main Street.

A Lansdale woman was arrested Wednesday evening after she allegedly kicked and attempted to bite police officers that were responding to a domestic incident at the Wissahickon Apartments.

According to the criminal complaint, Lansdale Borough Police were dispatched to the 700 block of East Main Street at 10:02 p.m. for a report of a domestic incident involving an armed subject. Upon arrival, police made contact with a female resident—identified as 40-year-old Rachel Pershall—who did not have a weapon on her person, but was reportedly agitated by the presence of police, the report states.

As police were conducting their investigation, the report states that Pershall was very agitated, uncooperative and was visibly intoxicated with slurred speech. The report states that Pershall allegedly kept screaming at police to get out of her house, and ignored commands to sit down. Pershall then allegedly stood in close proximity to the face of a police officer and continued screaming, according to the report.

The officer attempted to grab Pershall’s arm to place her onto a nearby couch, but Pershall pulled away and a scuffle ensued, according to the report. Police were able to gain control of Pershall on the couch, but she allegedly repeatedly kicked two officers and attempted to bite them multiple times, the report states.

At 10:14 p.m., Pershall was taken into custody and charged with one felony count of aggravated assault, along with misdemeanor counts of resisting arrest and disorderly conduct/grading.

Pershall was arraigned the following morning by Magisterial District Judge Ed Levine, who set bail at $20,000 cash. She was then remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility after failing to post bail. Her next court appearance is a preliminary hearing at 11 a.m. on Sept. 25 in front of Judge Levine.
