Lansdale Borough Police Chief Michael Trail stopped by the Black Reserve Bookstore on Tuesday morning, in order to drop off five bags of donations for the store’s upcoming Back to School event.

The event is scheduled for Sept. 8 from noon to 5 p.m. inside of Lansdale’s Dresher Arcade. As part of the event, owner Shaykh Anwar Muhammad will be giving away free school supplies to those who need them, as well as free haircuts for boys and selective hairstyles for girls from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Trail said each bag contained a mix of school supplies and gift cards, with the donations coming from both the police department and the Montgomery County chapter of Bikers Against Child Abuse.

“There are kids out there who really could use this,” said Trail. “This could mean a lot to a whole lot of families.”

Muhammad graciously accepted the donation, and offered his thanks to both the Lansdale Borough Police Department and the Bikers Against Child Abuse. Muhammad said they are still accepting donations for Sunday’s event, and could specifically use backpacks wherever possible.

“This is amazing,” said Muhammad, with a smile. “This is so great.”
