UPDATE: Sept. 3, 5:05 p.m. - According to Steve McGlynn, who serves as a media point of contact for the North Penn Volunteer Fire Company, the fire police officer has been deemed uninjured following their evaluation on the scene. McGlynn provided us the following statement:
“We would like to notify the public that all of the North Penn Volunteer Fire Company volunteer firefighters and Fire Police members are harm-free, including those presently operating at the fire police call in question. We would like to thank the public for their concern regarding our members.”
According to the Montgomery County Department of Public Safety, fire police were dispatched to the area of the North Wales Train Station at 3:46 p.m. to provide traffic control after the railroad arms began to malfunction. While on scene, the unidentified fire police officer was reportedly struck by a vehicle, and emergency medical personnel were called to the scene, according to our sources.
The extent of the victim’s injuries is currently unknown, though the source said that they may be minor in nature. The victim is currently receiving treatment from emergency medical personnel on scene, and the cause of the incident is under investigation.
The railroad arms are expected to be down for an extended period, as crews work to remedy the situation. Motorists are asked to avoid the area.
