Overturned Vehicle Shuts Down Southbound Bethlehem Pike Wednesday Morning

A two-vehicle accident forced the closure of southbound Bethlehem Pike in Hatfield Township on Wednesday morning.

According to the Montgomery County Department of Public Safety, the incident occurred at 9:36 a.m. on Route 309 near the intersection with Bergey Road. Though the cause of the crash is currently under investigation, a white four-door vehicle overturned onto the southbound passing lane. The second vehicle was pushed off to the side of the roadway, according to a person at the scene.

Sources tell North Penn Now that the driver of the overturned vehicle sustained minor injuries, and was taken from the scene via ambulance to a local hospital. The vehicle was towed from the scene and the roadway was reopened roughly 30 minutes later, sources said.

Hatfield Township Police and the Volunteer Medical Service Corps of Lansdale responded to the scene.

(Editor's note: a former version described the incident as a single-vehicle accident. We have since been informed that a second vehicle was involved.)
