A husband and wife duo from Lewistown are facing charges after they allegedly stole Red Bull, Nicorette gum and other items from Wegmans in Montgomery Township.
According to the criminal complaints, 35-year-old Alexis Herrington entered Wegmans—located at 500 Montgomery Mall—on Aug. 8 at 2 a.m. and picked up a thermal bag for sale. She then allegedly placed four boxes of Nicorette gum into the bag, picked up a case of Red Bull and exited without paying, police said.
Total value of the items stolen on Aug. 8 was $260.94, according to the complaint.
Additional alleged thefts include:
Total loses for the Montgomery Township Wegmans exceeded $1,000, police said. In all incidents, the thefts were captured on surveillance footage, the report states.
Police later learned that Alexis had also allegedly stolen cases of Red Bull and baby formula from the Giant Food Store on Norristown Road in Upper Dublin Township on Aug. 27, the report states.
As a result of the incidents, Alexis Herrington has been charged with four felony counts of retail theft, two felony counts of conspiracy to commit retail theft, four misdemeanor counts of receiving stolen property and two misdemeanor counts of conspiracy to receive stolen property. (Note: The felony charges come as a result of two prior convictions for retail theft.)
Brandon Herrington has been charged with two misdemeanor counts of retail theft, two misdemeanor counts of receiving stolen property and misdemeanor counts of conspiracy to commit both offenses.
Both Brandon and Alexis were taken into custody and arraigned on the charges on Oct. 22 by Magisterial District Judge Andrea Duffy, who set bail at $2,000 cash for Alexis and 10-percent of $1,000 cash for Brandon. Both were then remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility after failing to post bail.
Both Alexis and Brandon will have a preliminary hearing on Nov. 5 at noon in front of Judge Duffy.
