Lansdale Borough played host to two unique event offerings on Saturday afternoon, with both having an underlying focus of restoring the historic Lansdale Freight House.
The afternoon began with Discover Lansdale’s tongue-in-cheek Frachthaus Zer0.5K race, which began with a beer in front of Round Guys Brewing Co. and ended at the second event: Lansdale Oktoberfest, in the Freight House parking lot.
On the race end of things, registered participants were given beers prior to engaging the daunting and ever-so-challenging course, which consisted of running/walking one-third of a mile down Lansdale’s Wood-Vine Connector to the Lansdale Freight House at Broad and Vine streets. For those VIP’s who weren’t up for the challenge—including a certain unnamed North Penn Now editor—a motorized picnic table was made available, which of course featured a variety of foods and snacks.
Once the race was completed and everyone was given their participation medals—we’re not making that up—participants crossed the street and took in the sights and sounds of Discover Lansdale’s Oktoberfest 2019, including performances by The Philadelphia German Brass Band and the G.T.V. Almrausch German Dance Group.
North Penn Now Photographer Bob Kelly was at the scene of both events, snapping up images of all of the great themed activities. Check out his gallery below.
