Water Tower Cinema to Host Frozen 2 Grand Opening Celebration This Weekend

On the heels of their soft-reopening, Water Tower Cinema is seeking to go big with their official Grand Opening Celebration this weekend, providing a variety of themed activities and giveaways that coincide with the long-awaited debut of Disney’s Frozen 2.

The new cinema, located at 750 Montgomery Glen Drive in the former location of Frank Theaters, will begin the festivities on Friday at 6 p.m. with a red-carpet welcome, complete with selfie stations, greenscreens and giveaways. Then on Saturday, Family Fun Day will begin at noon with a meet-and-greet with Frozen 2 characters Elsa and Anna, along with photo ops, greenscreens and special, themed giveaways.

On both days, the first 200 kids dressed in Frozen 2 costumes will receive a Water Tower Cinema popcorn tumbler, free popcorn and a drink. Additionally, the B-101 Street Team and Buzzbee mascot will be on hand on Saturday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

This weekend’s Grand Opening Celebration officially marks the return of cinema in the Water Tower Square Shopping Center, following a 10-month vacancy created by the abrupt departure of Frank Theaters in January. The new cinema is independently owned by The Goldenberg Group, who also owns the Water Tower Square Shopping Center.

Since the closure of Frank Theaters, the location has undergone an extensive refresh. The exterior has been completely repainted and inside, the lobby and concession stand have been refurbished. Additionally, each of the 10 theaters—which range in size from 80 to 300 seats—feature plush, cushioned leather rocker seats, and there are spaces accessible for people with disabilities.

The Goldenberg Group stated that they plan to continue improvements to the theater in the future.
