(Note: the following is a press release from the Hilltown Township Police Department.)

A local family is looking for answers after their family dog was struck and killed.

On Wednesday, Nov. 13. at about 8 p.m., a 6-year-old white Sheltie/Collie mix, Sadie, slipped out of her collar and ran towards Hilltown Pike near Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church. Two individuals immediately went after her and stopped traffic on Hilltown Pike in both directions.

As the individuals were about to take custody of Sadie in the middle of the roadway, a vehicle traveling south on Hilltown Pike struck the dog. The operator of the striking vehicle reportedly said something to one of the individuals prior to leaving the scene. The operator is described as a middle-aged male with dark and gray hair. He was operating a black mid-size sedan.

Sadie was rushed to a local animal hospital, but died from internal injuries.
