New Movie Theater Opening Today in Montgomery Township

Lovers of cinema, rejoice! Montgomery Township is once again a two-theater town.

Water Tower Cinema, located at 750 Montgomery Glen Drive, will officially open their doors today at 4 p.m., in the former location of Frank Theaters. The new theater features a freshly-renovated, 10-theater moviehouse, featuring comfortable chairs and a home-style concession menu in a friendly and welcoming environment for the whole family.

Opening Day features include Playing with Fire, Last Christmas, Terminator: Dark Fate, Ford v Ferrari and more. For a full list of available films and showtimes, click here.

In addition to the added entertainment venue for the community, the new moviehouse also brings jobs back to the community, as the new owners are looking to hire ushers, concession workers and box office cashiers. Employment information is available here.

The Water Tower Cinema opening comes 11 months after Frank Theaters abruptly shuttered their doors and ceased all operations in January. That closure was precipitated by a Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing by Frank Theaters’ parent company in September 2018. Following the closure, the rumor mill almost immediately began rumbling with details about another cinema company hoping to fill the void at the Water Tower Square Shopping Center.

Those plans have finally come to fruition.

With the recent opening of Miller’s Ale House, and anchor businesses in Home Depot, Planet Fitness, Office Max and the Cost Plus World Market, the Water Tower Square Shopping Center has quickly established itself as a retail hub and entertainment destination. The success of the shopping center is even more impressive when considering the closures of multiple food and retail chains in the nearby Montgomery Mall area, including TGI Fridays, Sears, Chilis, Charlotte Russe and more.

North Penn Now has reached out to Teri Yago-Ryan, Vice President of External Affairs for the Goldenberg Group, for more information on the opening of Water Tower Cinema. Yago-Ryan stated that an official announcement about Water Tower Cinema’s official opening—and upcoming grand opening celebration weekend events, scheduled for Nov. 22 and Nov. 23—will be made shortly.
