Homeless Pair Accused of Repeated Thefts from Target in Montgomery Township

A homeless duo is facing felony theft charges after they allegedly stole from Target in Montgomery Township on four occasions in one week..

According to the criminal complaint, Montgomery Township Police were contacted by the store’s asset protection manager on Sept. 25 at 4:30 p.m. regarding multiple retail thefts that had occurred over the last two months. Police were informed that the store had allegedly been targeted four times by the same two suspects, later identified as 35-year-old Charles Craig and 30-year-old Nicole Levengood, the report states.

A review of the security footage allegedly showed both Craig and Levengood arriving to the store together in the same vehicle on Aug. 17, twice on Aug. 18 and once on Aug. 22, according to the report. Once inside, the pair would allegedly select merchandise from the racks and swap barcodes with lesser items, the report states. They would then take the merchandise through a self-checkout kiosk, according to the report.

Across all four incidents, the total value of the stolen merchandise was $1,907, police said. However, the suspects allegedly paid a total of $8.08 at the self-checkout kiosks, rendering the total actual loss as $1,898.92.

As a result of the investigation, Craig and Levengood have been charged with felony counts of retail theft, receiving stolen property and theft by deception.

Craig and Levengood were taken into custody on Nov. 9 and later arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Henry Schireson, who set their bail at $2,500 unsecured each. They were then released from custody, and their next court appearance is a preliminary hearing in front of Magisterial District Judge Andrea Duffy on Nov. 21 at 10:45 a.m.
