Child Porn Investigation Leads to 80 Felony Charges for Souderton Man

Glenn Barndt, 37, of Souderton.

A Souderton man is facing 80 felony child pornography charges, after investigators allegedly found named folders on his computer containing images of nude boys and girls between the ages of 2-and-12-years old.

According to the criminal complaint, Montgomery County Detectives received a cybertip from the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force on July 16 regarding 10 images of child pornography that were uploaded through google account “magicman1122.” The images depicted boys between 3-and-12-years-old, either posed nude or engaged in sexual activity, the report states.

Investigators later uncovered that the account allegedly belonged to 37-year-old Glenn Barndt, of Souderton.

On Sept. 23, investigators received the results from a search warrant that was executed on Barndt’s Google account, which allegedly showed 61 organized folders and 42 images of child pornography, the report states. Many of the folders were organized by names, and the images allegedly included boys and girls between the ages of 2-and-12-years-old either posed nude or engaged in sexual activity, according to the report.

A search warrant was executed on Barndt’s residence—located along the 400 block of Railroad Avenue—on Oct. 1. Barndt was home at the time, and allegedly agreed to accompany investigators to the Souderton Borough Police Station to provide a statement.

During the interview with investigators, Barndt allegedly provided a six-page written statement, in which he allegedly asserted ownership of the Google account and confessed that he has viewed child pornography his entire adult life, with the majority of the content being children under the age of 12-years-old, the report states. Barndt also allegedly stated that he viewed the images as a fantasy, but denied ever having sexual contact with a child, according to the report.

Charges were filed against Barndt on Oct. 23, and he was taken into custody on Oct. 29.

As a result of the investigation, Barndt has been charged with 40 felony counts of possession of child pornography and 40 felony counts of dissemination of child pornography.

Barndt was arraigned on Oct. 29 by Magisterial District Judge Deborah Lukens, who set bail at $10,000 cash. He was then remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility after failing to post bail. His next court appearance is a preliminary hearing on Nov. 7 at 11 a.m. in front of Magisterial District Judge Albert Augustine.
