Roving patrols will accompany the checkpoint throughout several jurisdictions, expanding to Routes 363, 29, 152 and 663. The areas being targeted by the checkpoint and patrols have been identified as "locations where alcohol and/or drugs has been a significant factor in both vehicle stop and vehicle crashes," according to the release.
In addition to DUI enforcement, police will also be checking for properly installed child restraint systems, unlicensed or suspended drivers, proof of insurance, vehicle registration, vehicle equipment and other traffic violations.
The North Penn Area DUI Task Force said that they would like to remind everyone of the options available to them, which include designated drivers, car service apps such as Lyft and Uber, and shuttle bus service from certain establishments.
