Man Airlifted After Basketball Hoop Falls on Head

A 42-year-old man has been airlifted to due to injuries sustained after a basketball hoop fell on his head.

According to sources, the incident occurred at 1:23 p.m. at a home along the 100 block of Newport Lane in Montgomery Township. A basketball hoop reportedly came down and struck the victim in the head, causing head trauma and leaving him unconscious.

The victim was airlifted via JeffSTAT to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. The extent of his injuries are unknown at this time, though sources said that the victim did not regain consciousness at the scene.

Units from the Montgomery Township Police Department, Lansdale Volunteer Medical Services Corps, Fire Department of Montgomery Township and JeffSTAT assisted at the scene.
