An online fundraiser has been created for the family of Michael Jansen, who was tragically killed in an ATV accident over Memorial Day Weekend.
The GoFundMe page seeks to raise $10,000 for Jansen’s two children, Lydia and Michael Jr. At the time of this writing, donations have reached $775 of that goal. (Donations can be made by clicking here)
Additionally, local resident Lyn Truszkowski has been taking up non-GoFundMe donations for the family, via cash and check donations, as well as donations via Venmo (@Lyn-Truszkowski to donate).
According to the Pennsylvania State Police, Jansen was riding an ATV along Oley Valley Road in Foster Township at 3:30 a.m. on May 26 when he lost control and drove off of the road. Jansen, who was the only rider, was taken to Lehigh Valley Hazleton Hospital, where he was pronounced dead the following day.
Prior to his death, Jansen, a graduate of North Penn High School, was employed by Local 542 operating engineers as a heavy equipment operator, and he also served as a football coach for the North Penn Squires.
According to his obituary, his family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on June 2 at Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home in Lansdale. A second viewing will be held at 10 a.m. on June 3, with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at 11 a.m. At the family’s request, guests are encouraged to wear bright, happy colors during the visitations.
