Driver Arrested on Suspicion of DUI in Whites Road Crash

The driver of a vehicle that struck a telephone pole on Whites Road on Sunday night has been charged with DUI.

According to a release by the Lansdale Borough Police Department, police responded to the intersection of Whites Road and South Broad Street on May 19 at 8:52 p.m. for a report of a single vehicle accident. Upon arrival, police discovered a white Toyota Corolla that had flipped onto its side, with downed wires around it.

The driver of the vehicle—identified as 36-year-old David Heck—was the sole occupant of the vehicle, and was uninjured in the crash, the release states. Heck reportedly displayed signs of impairment at the scene, and was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI and related charges.

According to county records, court proceedings have not been set at this time. Crews from Lansdale Borough Electric replaced the pole the following day.

(Editor's note: All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. Should the defendant choose to issue a public statement, or is later found not guilty or has the charges dropped, we will update this article accordingly.)
