The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT)
today reopened the bridge carrying Old Forty Foot Road over Skippack Creek in
Towamencin Township, following a three-week closure for bridge reconstruction.
Following its closure in October 2018 for a bridge replacement project, the structure reopened in January 2019. PennDOT’s contractor replaced the existing bridge with a two-span, pre-stressed, concrete spread box beam bridge.
The structure is 124 feet long, 35 feet wide and carries an average of 5,845 vehicles a day.
H&K Group of Skippack, Montgomery County, was the general contractor on the $1,479,567 bridge improvement project.
