Weekend Sobriety Checkpoint Scheduled for North Penn Area

The North Penn Area DUI Enforcement Team will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint during the weekend of May 17 through May 19, in the area of Route’s 463, 363, 63 or another roadway, according to a release by the Hatfield Township Police Department.

Roving patrols will accompany the checkpoint throughout the area, expanding to Routes 309, 29, 152 and 663. The areas being targeted by the checkpoint and patrols have been identified as locations “where alcohol has been a significant factor,” the release states.

In addition to DUI enforcement, police will also be checking for properly installed child restraint systems, unlicensed or suspended drivers, proof of insurance, vehicle registration, vehicle equipment and other traffic violations.

The North Penn Area DUI Task Force said that they would like to remind everyone of the options available to them, which include designated drivers, car service apps such as Lyft and Uber, and shuttle bus service from certain establishments.

Anyone with questions regarding the event is encouraged to contact Corporal Michael Sloan of the Hatfield Township Police Department at 215-855-0903.
