American Shave House has announced that they are closing, following Sunday’s fire on Walnut Street in Lansdale.
According to a statement issued through their Facebook page, the fire occurred directly underneath their shop, and though they’re trying to salvage what they can, the building has been temporarily condemned pending further investigation and needed renovations.
The statement continues, in part:
“At this time, I am evaluating all options to reopen as soon as possible. I will post updates on Facebook, as well as the website as these plans evolve. This is a devastating blow, but I really believe it will be a minor setback for a major comeback.
I
want to thank you all for your loyalty and friendship thus far, and express my
appreciation for helping to make ASH such a special place. It would be nothing
without all of our amazing patrons that frequent our establishment. Special
thanks to all that have reached out, it means a lot to me.
There are also tenants that were affected by the fire that are displaced and in a lot rougher situation than us. Please send prayers their way. Thank you.”
The statement concludes by saying that all current appointments have been cancelled, and scheduling will reopen once a new location is confirmed.
According to Fairmount Fire Company Assistant Chief Gavin Butler, crews were dispatched to 109 Walnut Street for a report of a fire shortly after 6 p.m. on Sunday. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered visible flames coming out of the basement of the building.
Butler stated that the fire was placed under control in roughly 30 minutes, but they upgraded to a second alarm as a precaution.
No injuries were reported at the scene, but due to fire damage in the basement, as well as smoke and water damage to other parts of the building, tenants of the property have not been allowed to return.
