UPDATE: May 7, 6:38 p.m. – Parents of Penndale Middle School students received a second email from school officials this afternoon, stating that two additional BB guns were found in the school.
The email reads:
Good Afternoon-
Today, Tuesday, May 7, a lockdown was implemented at Penndale Middle School when a student was seen via video surveillance placing a BB gun into a locker. The lockdown occurred while security located the student. Lansdale police were immediately called to the school. Parents were notified of the situation.
Since
then and during the ensuing investigation, two additional BB guns were found.
The district continues to work with law enforcement.
As always, North Penn parents are encouraged to discuss with their students the
seriousness of bringing any weapon to school and the disciplinary consequences
of such actions. As a reminder, here

As a result of the investigation, police have now found three BB guns in the school. North Penn Now is awaiting updated comment from the Lansdale Borough Police Department.

“[The] Lansdale Police Department responded to Penndale Middle School for an incident which sent the school into “lockdown.” Responding officers worked with school staff and security to investigate, at which time a CO2 BB gun was recovered from a student.
The lockdown has been lifted and investigation ongoing.”

Penndale Middle School was locked down for a period on Tuesday, after a student was captured on surveillance placing a BB gun into a locker.According to the school district, Lansdale Borough Police were immediately notified of the incident, and the lockdown occurred while security staff located the student.
No injuries were reported.
“I commend Penndale staff for their swift response to the situation, and students for following lockdown procedures in an orderly fashion,” said Dr. Sean O’Sullivan, principal of Penndale Middle School. “I ask that parents discuss with their students the seriousness of bringing any weapon to school, and the disciplinary consequences of those actions.”
The school district commended Penndale staff and students for taking safety concerns seriously, adding that because the situation was reported, they were able to quickly address it and ensure safety within the school.
North Penn Now has reached out to the Lansdale Borough Police Department for more information. We will update this article when we receive a response.
