Upper Gwynedd Hires New Township Manager

Sandra Zadell

A four-month-long hiring search has reached its conclusion in Upper Gwynedd, as officials have announced the hiring of Sanda Zadell as the new township manager.

Zadell, who has spent the last five years as manager for Chalfont Borough, will take over the position that was abruptly vacated by former township manager Mike Lapinski in December. Assistant township manager Alex Kaker has been filling the role since that time.

"Sandra is well respected within the public administration arena, and she does come with a lot of qualifications," said commissioners' President Ken Kroberger, in an article by Dan Sokil at The Reporter. "I think she will be excellent, not only for the staff and for the board, but also for all the residents of this township,"

According to her LinkedIn page, Zadell graduated from Villanova University in 2006 with a Master’s of Public Administration. She served as a special projects coordinator for Doylestown Township from June 2007 through April 2011, before being promoted to assistant township manager in April 2011. Zadell then left her position with Doyletown Township in Feb. 2014 in order to become the borough manager for Chalfont.

The hire brings to an end an up-and-down period for Upper Gwynedd Township, which saw long-time manager Len Perrone retire at the end of 2017. Perrone’s assistant manager, Lapinski, then served as interim manager until he was permanently given the position in June 2018, but he left his position without explanation just sixth months later.

Zadell is expected to start the new position on April 29, once she has fulfilled her obligations in Chalfont, the report states.
