North Penn School District’s Chief Financial Officer, Steve Skrocki, has been announced as the recipient of the 2019 Pennsylvania Association of School Business Officials Award of Achievement.
The annual award is given to member submissions of projects that help educational resources to be used in a more effective manner. Skrocki’s project was the district’s Real Estate Tax Rebate Program. This program allows qualified property owners to receive a tax refund on their annual property taxes, which brings tax relief to those in the North Penn community who need it. The program needs little start up time and will not have a significant impact on business office staff time
Skrocki implemented this in another school district, but redesigned and implemented it for the 2018-2019 fiscal year. In its first year, the program received 348 applications and over $27,000 in rebates were given. The feedback has been positive, and the school board has put some changes in place so that even more people can take advantage of the program.
