Crews Responding to Hazmat Incident in Towamencin

UPDATE: March 9, 3:44 p.m. - North Penn Now staff has been informed that the chemical is methanol alcohol, and the spill is being contained in an underground containment area. There is no threat to the public, according to officials.

Crews remain on scene as they await the arrival of the hazmat team.

Crews from the Towamencin Volunteer Fire Company are currently on the scene of a hazmat incident on Detwiler Road in Towamencin Township.

The initial call went over at 2:43 p.m., at the Greene Tweed and Co. location along the 2000 block of Detwiler Road. Upon arrival, crews reportedly located an exterior storage tank that was leaking an unknown fluid. Water lines have been deployed as a precautionary measure, and crews on scene have requested the hazardous materials team, according to our sources.

No injuries have been reported. 

North Penn Now has a staff member en route to the scene. We will update this article as more information becomes available.
