Police Blotter: Two Strangulation Incidents, One Drug Arrest

The following is a list of recent felony arrests made throughout the North Penn area.

Strangulation Incident in Lansdale

Timothy Sheahan, 38, of Lansdale, has been charged with one count of felony strangulation, two counts of misdemeanor simple assault, one misdemeanor count of recklessly endangering another person and a summary charge of harassment, in connection with an incident that occurred around 11 a.m. on Feb. 26.

Sheahan reportedly assaulted the victim, and then began to choke them for a short period, according to the criminal complaint. The victim sustained minor injuries as a result of the attack, the report states.

Sheahan was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Ed Levine, who set bail at $5,000 cash. Sheahan was then remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility after failing to post bail.

Strangulation Incident in Hatfield

Josue Paz-Rivas, 23, of Allentown, has been charged with one felony count of strangulation, one misdemeanor count of simple assault and one summary charge of harassment, in connection with an incident that was reported at 3:28 p.m. on Feb. 24.

According to the criminal complaint, Paz-Rivas allegedly grabbed the victim by the throat and threw them on the ground. Paz-Rivas then allegedly placed his knee onto the victim’s throat, the report states. The victim sustained minor injuries as a result of the attack, the report states.

Paz-Rivas was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge James P. Gallagher, who set bail at $5,000 unsecured. His next scheduled court appearance is a preliminary hearing in front of Magisterial District Judge Ed Levine on April 25 at 1:30 p.m.

Marijuana Arrest in Lansdale

Mehdi Mollah, 23, of Lansdale, has been charged with one felony count of possession with intent to deliver, one misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia and a summary charge of driving without headlights, in connection with a traffic stop that occurred on March 2 at 10;32 p.m.

According to the criminal complaint, police were patrolling near the intersection of Main and Line streets when they observed Mollah’s vehicle traveling with a faulty driver-side headlight. The report states that upon initiating the traffic stop, police allegedly noticed the odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered 1.8 ounces of individually-packaged marijuana, as well as a digital scale and packaging materials.

Mollah was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Patty Zaffarano, who set bail at $5,000 cash. Mollah was then remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility after failing to post bail. His next scheduled court appearance is a preliminary hearing in from of Magisterial District Judge Ed Levine on April 2 at 9:45 a.m.
