The Lansdale Borough Police Department has announced the arrest of 27-year-old Mikal Jackson-Stevenson, of Philadelphia, in connection with a road rage incident that occurred on Feb. 2.
Jackson-Stevenson is charged with misdemeanor counts of simple assault, endangering the welfare of children, recklessly endangering another person, terroristic threats, possession of an instrument of crime and related weapons offenses, in connection with the incident.
According to Lansdale Borough Police Chief Michael Trail, the incident occurred on Feb. 2 at 9 a.m. at the intersection of Line and East Seventh streets. Jackson-Stevenson reportedly exited his vehicle at a red light where two vehicles were stopped, and brandished a black semi-automatic handgun towards the victim before getting back into his vehicle and leaving the scene. No injuries were reported.
Police made the arrest on March 6, and Jackson-Stevenson was arraigned on March 7 before Magisterial District Judge Ed Levine, who set bail at $50,000 unsecured. He was then released from custody.
Jackson-Stevenson’s next court appearance is a preliminary hearing in front of Judge Ed Levine on March 13 at 1:30 p.m.
The arrest comes roughly two weeks after police released images of the suspect’s vehicle to the public, in the hopes that someone could identify him.
“The Lansdale Police Department would like to thank the public for their assistance in this investigation,” reads a statement from the Lansdale Borough Police Department. “Over the last several weeks, Lansdale PD received numerous tips from the public regarding this incident.”
(Editor's note: All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. Should the defendant choose to issue a public statement, or is later found not guilty or has the charges dropped, we will update this article accordingly.)
