The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office has announced the arrest of 42-year-old Scott Neff, of North Wales, in connection with an online investigation into people possessing and sharing child pornography.
According to the press release, an Abington Township Police detective began the online investigation in October 2018, and connected to a computer located in North Wales on an anonymous file sharing network. The detective downloaded six files from the computer over the course of the next 18 days, and all files depicted children under the age of 18 engaged in sexual acts or poses, the release states.
A search warrant was executed on Dec. 12, 2018 and a laptop was seized as a result. The release states that a forensic examination of the laptop uncovered 65 still images and 78 video files that were determined to be child pornography.
Neff was arrested on March 3 and charged with more than 100 counts of distributing and possessing child pornography, as well as criminal use of a communications facility. He was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Patty Zaffarano, who set bail at $100,000 cash. He was also ordered to have no unsupervised contact with children and no usage of the internet.
Neff was then remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility after failing to post bail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 27 at 11:30 a.m. in front of Magisterial District Judge Suzan Leonard.
