Newly-elected Pennsylvania State Representative Steve Malagari will be hosting an Open House on Tuesday at his new office in Lansdale Borough.
The office, located at 100 West Main Street, sits directly across from the Lansdale Train Station, and can also be accessed by Septa’s 94, 96 and 132 bus routes. The new office can be accessed via a door in the front of the building, and also has a handicap-accessible entrance in the rear of the building.
“I wanted to make sure that we could be centrally located, visible and accessible,” said Malagari, adding that he initially looked into occupying the office of former state rep Bob Godshall in Hatfield, but the costs to fix the building served as a deterrent.
“We tried to go in there, but it didn’t really work out,” said Malagari. “We toured the building, and it needed close to $40,000 of work, which would have had to come from the taxpayers.”
The new office features three full-time staff members, including two constituent service advisors and a district office director. The office will also be adding a part-time employee and several interns in the near future. Hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Constituents can visit the office for help with a variety of state programs and issues, including birth certificate applications, professional licensing resources, problems with unemployment benefits and more. Additionally, Malagari said he welcomes residents to reach out regarding ideas and needs for new legislation.
“Anyone with issues with state government is urged to come to our office,” said Malagari. “Whether it’s a routine application or a more complex issue, we are here to help.”
The Open House will be held all day Tuesday, and Rep. Malagari will be on-hand to welcome residents and address any needs they may have.
