The Montgomery Township Police Department has released details regarding a fatal motor vehicle accident that occurred on County Line Road on Sunday afternoon.
According to Lieutenant Gerry Dougherty, the accident occurred at 4:41 p.m. near the intersection with Kingston Way, when an 88-year-old Chalfont woman that was traveling westbound in a Hyundai Sonata crossed over the lane of travel and struck a 2018 Mazda CX5 head-on. Reports indicate that the 88-year-old woman stopped breathing, and despite the efforts of emergency responders to resuscitate on scene, the woman was pronounced dead at the hospital a short time later.
Lt. Dougherty stated that of the four passengers in the Mazda, three of them sustained minor injuries as a result of the crash. The cause of the crash is still under investigation, Lt. Dougherty added.
Montgomery Township Police were aided at the scene by units from the Warrington Township Police Department and the Fire Department of Montgomery Township. Additionally, fire police from Montgomery Township, North Penn, Warrington and Horsham fire companies assisted at the scene, as well as units from the Volunteer Medical Services Corps.
