Axel Banegas-Vasquez, 18, of Hatfield.

Hatfield Township Police have announced the arrest of 18-year-old Axel Banegas-Vasquez, on charges of false imprisonment of a minor, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person, in connection with an incident that occurred Wednesday night.

According to the criminal complaint, police received a complaint on June 26 at 11:13 p.m. from a juvenile female regarding a physical assault from her adult boyfriend, identified as Banegas-Vasquez. The victim stated that Banegas-Vasquez drove to her home and forcibly pushed her into his vehicle after she refused to get in, then repeatedly punched and struck her in the head and face, the report states.

The release states that the victim was eventually able to exit the vehicle, but was pushed to the ground and kicked by Banegas-Vasquez. The assault continued until Banegas-Vasquez saw her parents vehicle heading toward the home, at which point he fled the scene and the victim’s parents took her to the police station.

Police observed scratches and swelling to the victim’s face and head, according to the complaint. Banegas-Vasquez was taken into custody the following day, according to police.

Banegas-Vasquez was arraigned on June 27 by Magisterial District Judge Andrea Duffy, who set bail at $50,000 cash. He was then remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility after failing to post bail. His next court appearance is a preliminary hearing scheduled for July 11 at 11:30 a.m. in front of Judge Duffy.
