A Lansdale man will face additional felony and misdemeanor drug charges after being arrested by the Lansdale Borough Police Department for the third time since March 2.
Mehdi Mollah, 23, has been charged with one felony count of possession with intent to distribute, misdemeanor charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, and summary-level charges stemming from an incident that occurred on Sunday morning.
According to the criminal complaint, Lansdale Police responded to a home at 10:13 a.m. on June 23 for a report of a domestic incident. Upon arrival, police encountered a blue Toyota Corolla that was parked against traffic with the engine running, and then they encountered Mollah outside of the residence, the report states.
Mollah was then detained by police while they investigated the domestic incident, the report states.
While speaking to the victim, police learned that Mollah’s driver’s license had been suspended, and though he initially denied that the blue Toyota Corolla was his, a witness informed police that they saw him operating and exiting the vehicle, the report states. Mollah was taken into custody, and a search of the vehicle allegedly uncovered 4.2 ounces of marijuana, a digital scale and other drug paraphernalia, according to the complaint.
The report states that Mollah repeatedly denied that the vehicle was his, stating “it’s not my weed” and “It’s not mine. I can’t get in trouble for that.”
Mollah—who was out on $1,000 cash bail from a drug arrest on March 2, and out on $20,000 cash bail from a DUI arrest in April in which he allegedly spit in the face of a police officer—was arraigned on the new charges on June 23 by Magisterial District Judge Paul Leo, who set bail at $50,000 cash. Mollah was then remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility after failing to post bail.
His next court appearance for the new charges is a preliminary hearing in front of Magisterial District Judge Ed Levine on July 15 at 1:30 p.m. Mollah is also awaiting formal arraignment at the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas regarding his April arrest, and has a pre-trial conference set for July 11 at 9 a.m. at the Montgomery County Courthouse in regards to his arrest in March.
(Editor's note: All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. Should the defendant choose to issue a public statement, or is later found not guilty or has the charges dropped, we will update this article accordingly.)
