UPDATE: June 20, 6:14 p.m. - Sources state that members of the fire departments are clearing the area, but police and fire police will remain on scene. The source states that the road could be closed for an extended period as police continue to investigate the accident.

Sources also tell North Penn Now that the accident involved a car and a box truck.

UPDATE: June 20, 6:03 p.m. - We have been informed that the rescue is complete, and the driver is in the care of Lansdale Volunteer Medical Services Corps. Motorists are advised to avoid the area.

First responders are currently on the scene of a vehicle accident on Bethlehem Pike near the intersection with Taylor Road in Montgomery Township.

According to sources, the incident occurred at 5:41 p.m. along the 700 block of Bethlehem Pike, and the driver of one vehicle is currently stuck inside. Sources indicate the driver has suffered injuries—described as head trauma—but North Penn Now has been unable to confirm.

Southbound Bethlehem Pike has been shutdown at the intersection with Taylor Road as a result of the accident. The cause of the accident is currently unknown.

Units from Hatfield Township and Montgomery Township police departments are currently on scene, as well as members of the Fire Department of Montgomery Township, Colmar Fire Company and Lansdale Volunteer Medical Services Corps.
