Lansdale Man Sentenced to Prison for Stealing Vacation Money from Neighbor

A Lansdale man is heading to state prison, following his guilty plea to two felony counts of burglary in connection with a pair of incidents that occurred late last year.

Jason Cybak, 47, of the 200 block of Green Street, has been sentenced to 18-to-36-months in state prison as part of a plea agreement, which also includes four years of probation and the prohibition of Cybak having any contact with his victims.

According to the criminal complaint, police were dispatched to the 200-block of Green Street during the evening of Dec. 10 for a report of a burglary. Once on scene, police spoke to the victim—a 70-year-old woman who lives alone—who informed them that $1,700 she was saving for vacation had gone missing from a drawer in her home shortly before Thanksgiving. After the money disappeared, the victim installed a security camera in her home because she suspected that her neighbor—identified as Cybak—had been coming into her home and stealing things when she was not there.

When the victim came home from an outing on Dec. 10, she reviewed the day’s security footage and noticed that Cybak—who had previously performed handyman work on the victim’s home—had entered her home at 7:52 p.m. and stole a jar of change from underneath her desk. The victim then contacted police.

Detectives from the Lansdale Borough Police Department questioned Cybak on Dec. 12, who admitted to entering the victim’s home when she was not there on two separate occasions, stealing $1,700 the first time and $1.50 in change the second time.

According to reports, Cybak will have to make $1,701 in restitution to the victim as part of his sentence. All other charges stemming from the incident were dropped as a result of the plea agreement.
