Man Arrested for Sexually Assaulting 5-Year-Old at Hilltown Walmart: Police

Hilltown Township Police have announced the arrest of a Bucks County man who allegedly sexually assaulted a 5-year-old child at the Walmart on Bethlehem Pike.

Gregory Alan Gottlob, 69, of Chalfont, has been charged with felony counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child and aggravated indecent assault of a child, as well as a misdemeanor count of indecent assault of a person less than 13 years of age, in connection with the investigation.

According to the release, police were dispatched to the Hilltown Walmart—located along the 500 block of Bethlehem Pike—on March 27 for a report of a sexual assault. Upon arrival, police were advised that a stranger had touched a 5-year-old child inappropriately, the release states.

After nearly three months of investigating, Hilltown Police released surveillance footage of an elderly man and woman whom they believed may unknowingly possess valuable information regarding the investigation. Once they were identified, police were able to make contact and secure the information that ultimately lead to the arrest of Gottlob.

The release states that Gottlob was arraigned on all charges on June 14 by Magisterial District Judge Regina Armitage, who set bail at 10-percent of $500,000 cash. Gottlob was then remanded to the Bucks County Correctional Facility after failing to post bail.

His next court appearance in a preliminary hearing on June 25 at 1:15 p.m. in front of Judge Armitage.

(Editor's note: All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. Should the defendant choose to issue a public statement, or is later found not guilty or has the charges dropped, we will update this article accordingly.)
