Basketball Hoop Victim Recovering at Philadelphia Hospital

A 42-year-old Montgomery Township man remains hospitalized in Philadelphia, after a basketball hoop fell and struck him in the head last week.

The incident occurred on May 29 at 1:23 p.m. at a home along the 100 block of Newport Lane in Montgomery Township. A basketball hoop reportedly came down and struck the victim in the head, causing head trauma and leaving him unconscious.

The victim was then airlifted via JeffSTAT to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, where he remains as he continues to undergo treatment for his injuries.

The incident is being investigated by OSHA, according to Montgomery Township Police Chief Scott Bendig.
