Danae Swartz, 27, of Perkasie.

A Perkasie woman has been sentenced to state prison for her roll in a fatal vehicle accident that occurred along Route 113 in Hilltown Township last December.

Danae Swartz, 27, of the 1000 block of Deerfield Circle, plead guilty earlier this month to charges of homicide by vehicle while DUI, homicide by vehicle, DUI and disregarding traffic lanes. As a result of her guilty plea, Swartz was sentenced to 3-to-10-years in state prison for the homicide charge, and 3-to-6-months in prison for the DUI charge. Both sentences will be served concurrently, and Swartz will receive 202 days credit for time served, court records indicate.

Swartz will also have to undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation as part of her sentence.

At 5:23 a.m. on Dec. 16, 2018, Hilltown Township Police responded to a fatal accident involving two vehicles that occurred on Route 113 between Moyer Road and Hamilton Street. Swartz was traveling southbound on Route 113 in a blue 2005 Honda Civic when she lost control while navigating through a left curve, causing her to strike the front-end of a white 1991 Honda Civic that was driven by 56-year-old Tsegai Gebremichael, of Sellersville.

Gebremichael was pronounced dead at the scene, and Swartz was transported to Saint Luke’s Hospital in Bethlehem for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

According to reports, Swartz told investigators that she had consumed multiple vodka drinks and synthetic marijuana prior to the crash. Her blood-alcohol content at the time of the crash was 0.169-percent, prosecutors said.
