Man arrested for Trashing Holiday Inn Hotel Room: Police

A 20-year-old Hatfield man is facing charges after he allegedly trashed his hotel room at the Holiday Inn in Towamencin.

According to the criminal complaint, police were dispatched to the Holiday Inn, located at 1750 Sumneytown Pike, at 11:27 a.m. on July 2 for a report of a vandalized hotel room. Upon arrival, police noticed multiple broken items across the room, as well as blood being present in various areas, the report states.

Police later located the suspect—identified as Danyel Jean—at his girlfriend’s home. Jean reportedly told police that he knew they were there because of what he did to the hotel room, and that he knew he would have to pay for the damage. Jean also allegedly told police that he had gotten into an argument with his girlfriend, and trashed the room as a means to vent his anger, the report states.

Jean denied any physical injury, aside from broken skin on the knuckles of both hands, which he attributed to punching walls and other items in the room, the report states. In total, Jean allegedly caused between $5,000 to $10,000 in damage to the room, the report states.

As a result of the incident, Jean has been charged with one felony count of criminal mischief. Jean was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Ed Levine, who set bail at $3,000 unsecured. His next court appearance is a preliminary hearing on Aug. 28 in front of Judge Levine.
