New Year’s Day Fire Displaces Three Families in Towamencin

A trio of families in Towamencin have been displaced by an early-morning fire on New Year’s Day.

According to the Towamencin Volunteer Fire Company, crews were dispatched to Towamencin Condiminiums at 1:30 a.m. for a report of a building fire. Initial reports indicated that two residents were unaccounted for, but first responders quickly determined that everyone was out of the properties. The fire was described as “rather extensive,” causing damage to three homes before it was successfully contained.

All residents were able to escape without injury, though the three affected homes were deemed uninhabitable. One firefighter received a hand laceration while battling the blaze, though sources say they were treated at the scene.

“We’re reminded that fire is unpredictable and spreads quickly,” reads the fire company’s statement. “Early detection and evacuation are essential. Check to make sure you and your home are prepared.”

The Towamencin Volunteer Fire Company was aided on the scene by fire companies from Harleysville, Skippack, Worcester and North Penn, as well as units from Towamencin Township Police Department, Pennsylvania State Police, Lansdale Volunteer Medical Service Corps, Harleysville Area Emergency Medical Services, North Penn Goodwill service and coverage from the Perseverance Fire Company in Souderton.

The cause of the fire has not been released.
