More than 30 students of North Penn High School’s African American Awareness Club (AAAC) and Comprehensive Music Technology classes put on a special presentation on Wednesday.
AAAC presented Colors Of Pride: A Day In The Life for fellow students during the school day, as well as an additional performance for the community on Wednesday evening.
The program featured poetry readings, a cultural dance performance and presentations on a variety of topics included code-switching, colorism and “The Talk.”
“As teenagers, they deal with a variety of things every single day. Some of that includes academics, sports, clubs, relationships, friendships and other things too,” said Dr. Marjorie Diegue, NPHS Assistant Principal and Co-Advisor of the AAAC. “During AAAC meetings, students talk about a lot of these issues and soon realized a pattern. Many of the things that they deal with also involve a cultural lens that not many share.”
