‘Crafting With A Cop’ A Success in Montgomery Township

The Montgomery Township Police Department held their Crafting with A Cop event this past Friday.

The event was organized by Officer Rob Johnson, who is the Community Policing Liaison for the police department. It was held at the Montgomery Township Community and Recreation Center.

According to Johnson, about 20 families showed up to craft. Both kids and their parents were involved in making the crafts.

“I expected that there would be a small turn out and that we would be there for about an hour,” said Johnson. “Two and half hours later, we’re saying good night to our last family of crafters.”

The crafts included making police cars out of paper plates and construction paper. Johnson said that while some of the kids made cars similar to the example, many were creative in their colors and other aspects of the car. There were also coloring pages of police cars and officers for kids to color.

“The kids were excited to show us their creations, and the parents were very engaging and thanking us for hosting this event,” said Johnson.

While there are currently no set dates for another Crafting With A Cop event, Johnson said they would definitely host another, since this one was such a success.
