Mater Dei is hosting events this week in celebration of Catholic Schools Week, an annual event that focuses on the contributions of Catholic school students and provides events for faculty, staff, students and community members.
Catholic Schools Week events started yesterday with special masses that were geared towards giving thanks for Catholic education. On Monday, the students will collect a variety of items for Christ Home for Children, which students will deliver. Each individual grade will have community service projects in addition to the collection.
On Thursday, the school will host a special mass at 2 p.m. for local first responders, paramedics, police and firefighters. The visitors will process to St. Stanislaus. Before mass, visitors are invited to the cafeteria for light refreshments.
The school will take time on Friday to celebrate the hard work that went into becoming a National Blue Ribbon School. The students, faculty and staff are invited to dress down for the day. There will also be balloons, music, a blue carpet, and a dance party. The Home and School Association is sponsoring a luncheon for faculty and staff members.
