Charges Held in Hilltown Homicide by Vehicle Case

A Perkasie woman who was involved in a deadly vehicle crash on Route 113 is heading for a formal arraignment at the Bucks County Courthouse, after all charges were held over at her preliminary hearing last week.

According to the Reporter, Danae Swartz, 26, faces charges for homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence, homicide by vehicle, driving under the influence, and a driving violation. A second DUI charge was added by Bucks County Assistant District Attorney Robert James at the preliminary hearing. These charges will move on to a formal arraignment, which is set to be held at the Bucks County Courthouse on Feb. 8.

The incident took place on the morning of Dec. 16. Swartz reportedly lost control of her 2005 Honda Civic while making a left curve, causing her to strike the 991 Honda Civic that belonged to 56-year-old Tsegai Gebremichael. Gebremichael was pronounced dead on the scene and Swartz was taken to Saint Luke’s Hospital in Bethlehem for non-life threatening injuries.

Swartz remains at the Bucks County Correctional Facility after failing to post bail.
