Annie Christ: Lansdale's Culture Queen

Annie Christ

Elvira, Mystery Science Theater 3000, stand-up comedy, a large wig, make up, movies, The Office trivia and an over the top personality. I have just described to you Lansdale's resident drag queen, Annie Christ. Lansdale is rich with diversity and Annie Christ is leading the charge with her unique sense of event curation and community outreach. Yes, Lansdale has a drag queen who hosts themed trivia, open mic nights and gives back to the community.

After diving into the world of drag three years ago, Annie has made it her mission to organize and promote unique events and encourage personal growth. Over the course of the past three years, Annie has pushed to get herself in shape, seek happiness in her career and strengthen others to express themselves. She's demonstrated that we can have fun in our community and make a difference.

Over the winter break, she organized a food drive for Manna on Main Street and, most recently, has arranged a drag queen story time debuting at the Lansdale Library in early February. She is a drag queen who's "aesthetic is taken right from the horror genre spanning from campy 80's to mainstream," and an entertainer who's lovingly shaped her unique personality "in the vain of Elvira and Pee Wee Herman."

We all need a little bit of silly in our lives.

She's found a home and a fan base at The Underground, Lansdale's subterranean music and events venue. Her monthly movie nights have been quite a hit with residents of all ages within the local community. When asked about her inspiration for the movies nights, she stated, "Lansdale is full of fun people who want something fun without having to go into the city, so it just made sense."

Coined the “Elvira of Drag," Annie is-and-will be a continued positive asset to the community. She gives hope to those that see themselves on the fringe. She's establishing a culture that embraces tolerance and acceptance of all. Her events are as important as they are inclusive. So yes, Lansdale's home to a drag queen who hosts trivia and open mic nights who brings diverse crowds together to simply have fun and be themselves. How cool is that?

For all the latest events at The Underground by Round Guys Brewing Company, be sure to check out their website and social media. The next upcoming events are a sold out concert with Jeffery Gaines this Friday, a great rock show featuring Riverside Odds on Feb. 1, and a must see show with I Think Like Midnight, featuring Joe Genaro and Dean Sabatino of The Dead Milkmen on Feb. 2.

The Underground is located at 408 West Main Street (lower level) Lansdale, PA 19446.
