The northbound lanes of Bethlehem Pike at the intersection with Welsh Road in Horsham Township have been shut down following a two vehicle crash Saturday morning.
According to sources, the crash occurred just after 6 a.m. and involved a van striking a tractor trailer and becoming wedged under the truck. A total of eight people were trapped, with up to five of them being injured, according to our source. One of the injured sustained major head trauma and was airlifted from the scene. The extent of the other injuries is currently unknown.
Fire companies from Horsham and Montgomery Township are on scene, as well as Lansdale Volunteer Medical Services Corps, Horsham EMS and police units from Montgomery Township, Horsham and Lower Gwynedd.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
